¡LUPITAS! ~ Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe con Nopales Original Painting

I painted this piece using metallic acrylic paint on an 8x10 canvas board. The frame is a gorgeous, rich wood color with bark trim accent. Hand painted flower wood embellishment on top and bottom. I wish my camera could capture the beautiful depth and colors in this piece, but metallic acrylic paints only really shine when they are hit by direct light.

Painting our Lady of Guadalupe has always been a healing thing for me. She represents so many things that I cherish and love. But what she represents most to me is a mother's unconditional love for her children. Whether those children are of her own blood or not.

The Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, is often misunderstood by those who do not know her. We do not venerate her because she is God-like, we venerate her because she is our portal to God. She is our confidante. Like a mother, she will always stand up for us and intervene on our behalf to help us. She will never judge us and she will never deny us. And it does not matter what your beliefs because if you believe in her, she believes in you.
